Queens's coffin has left Balmoral

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace on Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom "died peacefully." She was 96.

According to each spokesperson, members of the royal family, including the queen's four children, flocked to her side at Balmoral. That afternoon, she passed away.

Elizabeth had the longest reign in British history. In June, she celebrated her Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70 years as queen since her accession to the throne in 1952. Charles, Prince of Wales, her eldest child, will succeed her as monarch of the United Kingdom.

The hearse transporting the queen's oak coffin has left Balmoral.

It will take the motorcade carrying her casket roughly six hours to travel the 175 miles from Balmoral to Edinburgh and Holyrood House.
