Serena and Venus Williams lost to Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the opening round of the US Open doubles on Thursday night
It was Williams first match together in more than four years and 25 years after they made their tournament debut
With a 5-4 lead in the opening set and two set points, the Williams duo got off to a strong start. However, the Czechs rallied back
After the game, Hradecká addressed the crowd, saying, "I think we did a nice job, and I'm very sorry for you that we beat them, but we are so glad we did it."
It was the first time Hradecká had teamed with Nosková in doubles
“I was speechless when I found out I'm going to face these two. I mean, they're legends.” said Noskova, a 17-year-old making her Grand Slam debut in doubles
Serena and Venus' match on Thursday night might have been their last as doubles team
