Lea Michele Cancels ‘Funny Girl’ Performances

It has been reported that due to COVID-19 symptoms, Lea Michele will have to postpone forthcoming performances of her Broadway production of Funny Girl.

The news come to the attention through her instagram video, she had recently posted on her Insta handle. Essentially, on Saturday, the actress stated on her Instagram Story that there had been a “inconclusive test result.” Michele acknowledged that she was having symptoms as well and that she would have to leave for a moment. Fanny Brice’s understudy Julie Benko will take on the part.

She posted a statement on Instagram, saying, “I’m devastated to say that because of indications and symptoms of Covid and an inconclusive test result – due to the production’s safety standards I’m not able to perform today’s shows “Funny Girl.” Talking more, she wrote on her Instagram handle that  “I’ll be testing once more, so I’ll soon have more information regarding tomorrow’s performance. As are all of our incredible understudies who have stepped up so beautifully this week while we battle a really significant Covid epidemic in our theatre, Julie is going to crush it today as Fanny.”

Beanie Feldstein’s replacement, Michele, received acclaim for her debut performance on September 6. The Glee star will miss the afternoon and evening performances on Saturday. It is unknown when she will return to the August Wilson Theatre production in New York.
